Resumen

Highlighted here, and placed in historical perspective, are recent developments concerning interfacial phenomena when either surface tension or surface-tension gradients, or both together, act at the interface between two fluids or between a liquid and a solid: (Bénard-Marangoni) patterned convection and defects, dissipative solitons, wavy film flows, self propulsion of drops, and spreading of a liquid over a solid for various wetting conditions.
