Resumen

Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is a non-intrusive flow measurement technique that records the position of tracer particles injected into the flow to provide the local fluid velocity. Today, PIV is widely applied to investigation fields related with fluid mechanics, such as aerodynamics, combustion, sprays, turbomachinery, etc. To illustrate the power of PIV several flow images have been obtained from experiments with uniform flows approaching obstacles of simple geometry.
